If I purchase an ebook, how do I read it? Will it be difficult to download the book to my e-reader?
If you've ever downloaded one of my free short stories, you've already used Book Funnel, which is as straightforward as you can get. When you purchase an ebook, you'll get an email from Book Funnel with a link to download the book in whichever format you like, or send the ebook directly to your e-reader. (If you can't find the email, check your spam folder.) All your books will be stored in your library at https://My.BookFunnel.com.
Book Funnel can also help with tech support if you have difficulty downloading any of your ebooks. All you have to do is click the help link at the top of the page or email them and they'll send a handy tech faerie to fix things for you. Well, not exactly, but they're certainly more tech-savvy than I am ;)
What about audiobooks?
Audiobooks are also delivered using Book Funnel, and you can choose whether to download an MP3 or listen in the Book Funnel app.
As to why some of my audiobooks are available on the store and others aren't - it depends on whether I own the rights or not. The Changeling Chronicles and Legacy of Flames audiobooks are published by Audible Studios and Tantor Media respectively, so I can't sell those independently. The same applies to Elle's Blair Wilkes Mysteries audiobooks. On the other hand, I produced the Gatekeeper's Curse audiobooks by hiring a narrator myself, and the same with Elle's Library Witch and Reaper Witch Mysteries audiobooks.
Can I loan your ebooks or audiobooks to friends and family?
Sure! All my digital books are free of DRM encryption so you can share them with your friends and family, or transfer them between devices... whatever you like. They aren't tied to an account at a retailer. Once you buy a book, it's yours to keep.
How are print books delivered?
Print books are delivered through a service called BookVault and are shipped directly to you. Print time is usually 72 working hours and shipping can take up to a week or two depending on where you live. As BookVault is actively looking for local printers in various countries, I'll keep the site updated with current shipping times.
Note: print books from my store are unsigned, as BookVault is a print-on-demand service, but if you're looking to buy a signed book, I do have several of my fantasy titles listed on the Broken Binding online indie bookstore.
Wait... there are two of you? Who is Elle/Emma?
There's just one of me - as much as I wish for a clone some days! I publish my fantasy books under Emma L. Adams and my paranormal mysteries as Elle Adams. It's a way to keep things neater, and retailers such as Amazon like authors to stay in clearly defined boxes so that they can more easily recommend books to readers of a particular genre. It was getting slightly unwieldy for me to manage two websites, though, so when I set up my direct store, I decided to bring both names under the same banner. I've always been open about writing as two people, so this ought to be simpler for everyone!
How does buying direct help authors?
If you buy directly from my store, I'll get paid right away, and I'll get to keep 95% of the list price (instead of 35-70%, which is standard for retailers). As a bonus, buying directly from the author decreases our dependence on the big retail stores, and we can offer deeper discounts because there isn't a middleman taking a cut.
What if I need to contact you about my order?
If you have any concerns, use the shop chat or email me at email@example.com and I'll see if I can help you.
